I have created a Twitter account for the store. I have no idea what I’m doing, as I’ve never used it before, but…it exists. I now get to decide if I should have used a different profile name. 🙂

Meanwhile, the Easter egg hunt is still on!

Lordy, this all sounds so negative…yikes.

Artstonia is closing. It’s the RP sim where Relm began–it was the first RP sim I ever joined and was the only one I played on until a few months ago. The town square store was my first location, and the market store was my first proper store.

Anyway, the town square store already closed, but  now the market one will, too, with the sim gone.

So FFF is reduced to the SLM, the main store, and Azora right now, at least until Minas Tirith reopens.

Gee, two entries in a row about store closings…this seems so negative. 🙂

Anyway, I’ve gone ahead and closed my store in the Artstonia town square. It was always on mind to do one day. I was partly holding onto it out of sentiment, as it was my first store.

And perhaps this is as good a time as any, as it’s also…the store’s 1-year anniversary. Well, a week ago or something. I considered doing something in recognition, but with new year’s and Valentine’s, it was a little messy.

I went through today and switched to new vendors–6 panels instead of 4. And I put the SF2 and non-metered food into little vendors. So now those look a little more consistent (?), and the rest show more products at once (they also cycle now). Then I updated the vendor signs and added a couple bunnies and a squirrel, and I changed out the samples from Christmas (eww). So nothing life altering, and it shouldn’t affect the shopping experience, but if you run into any problems, let me know!

I’ve also added a “Spyware Free” sign out front. Foxdale Fine Foods does not and will never use RedZone or anything like it. My only “protection” is a 5-minute (I think?) autoreturn. I can’t see myself ever doing anything more than that–at most, turning off rezzing entirely if a problem occurs (for instance, I know griefing tools can bypass autoreturn by spawning new prims). But I’m taking my chances for the time being because I know it’s nice to be able to open boxes in situ.

Heads up

This isn’t about FFF per se, although it’ll be affected like other stores. LL is implementing a new ratings system for the SLM–general, moderate, and adult–because of the teenagers joining us.

Currently, everything is under “general”–it defaulted to that when they set it up–but in theory, the alcohol will need to be filed under moderate.

Anyway, this is just FYI and all, if you’re having trouble finding items there (not mine so much but other people’s). A lot of things are going to have to be categorized as adult, even if you don’t really think of them as adult. 😉

Merry Christmas

I’d like to wish everyone a merry Christmas, happy Hannukah (although I guess it ended), rocking Festivus (which I think also ended), or whatever else…and a happy new year!

Also, the main store now has a new (prim) assistant. OK, maybe it doesn’t really add much, but I figured what the heck.

Oh, it probably doesn’t need saying, but I won’t be around Christmas Eve and day, mostly.

I made this lame card for my RP sim, and I’ll share it here, too (um, click it):

Greetings! I thought I’d try my hand at a blog for Foxdale Fine Foods.

First things first, Azora and Spellfire group food: If you use one of these meters, you need to eat–we’re about the only avatars in Second Life who do. The rest of the avatars can eat or not eat as they see fit. Even those of us who “need” to could just eat cubes (as someone on a forum post said once, “all food in Second Life just tastes like textured plywood, anyway”).

But SL is largely about fantasy. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many bipedal squirrels around who are into BDSM. Most of us (metered and non) would rather eat something that looks like food. It could be from FFF, or it could be from any number of other virtual chefs. It doesn’t much matter. Of course, if you really just want to feed your meter, let me know–I can make you some very delicious plywood cubes for cheap.

I seriously doubt any of the zero people reading this care about how I came to be doing this. I’m not even sure I do, hell. Basically, I roleplay on a sim that uses Azora. I was instantly taken with the scripted food–it looked good, it was amusing…did I ever once need to spend any amount of lindens on someone’s sculpted plywood? Of course not. There was food rezzed out in the tavern. My avatar wouldn’t starve. But I liked the food and bought it, and soon enough, I thought about how much I’d like to have my own little store in that market, selling amusing little foodstuffs. And…well, I did.

Various people have told me that selling Azora food is kind of stupid because the only money in metered products is in weapons–they’re a pain to make (and make well), and everyone wants cool swords and crossbows. But you know, I wanted to make food. I don’t want to make weapons. So there it is.
